The Co-operative Bank of Kenya Limited is incorporated in Kenya under the Company Act and is also licensed to do the business of banking under the Banking Act.
The Bank was initially registered under the Co-operative Societies Act at the point of founding in 1965. This status was retained up to and until June 27th 2008 when the Bank’s Special General Meeting resolved to incorporate under the Companies Act with a view to complying with the requirements for listing on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).
The Bank went public and was listed on December 22nd 2008.

Co-op Bank answers cry of sick kids at Children’s Home, donates Sh. 5mn 16-seater van
The Co-operative Bank of Kenya has answered the cry of children at a rehabilitation center in Ngong. The bank has donated a 16-seater brand new van worth Sh. 5 million to the children who live at the Imani Rehabilitation Center. The brand new van will now facilitate the transportation of sick children at the rehabilitation center to hospital. “Co-op Bank has donated Sh 5 million, 16-seater van to Imani Rehabilitation Center to facilitate the transportation of sick children to and from Ngong town to Kenyatta National hospital,” the bank said in a statement to Bizna Kenya.
